Keeping Mercer Students Safe: New numbering system helps first responders

A new navigation system being implemented at Mercer County Schools will help first responders resolve emergencies faster.

On Friday, a simulated school shooting at King Middle School (KMS) was staged to demonstrate the Fast Path Hallway Navigation System. School personnel, officers from the City of Harrodsburg Police Department (HPD) and Mercer County Sheriff Ernie Kelty, firefighters from the City of Harrodsburg Fire Department (HFD) and the Mercer County Fire Protection District and EMTs from the Mercer County Emergency Medical Services watched as representatives from the R6 company reenacted a live shooter scenario.Continue reading
